Angie Stone

Jennifer Carpenter
In the News...

HICKORY - Children's Neurotherapy Services, LLC and the CNS Clinic announces that Angie Stone and Jennifer Carpenter are both certified to administer the Sensory Integration and Praxis Test (SIPT). Angie and Jennifer are graduates of East Carolina University and Lenoir-Rhyne College, respectively and hold a Bachelor's of Science degree in Occupational Therapy. The therapists are trained in evaluation and treatment of Dysfunction of Sensory Integraton (DSI). Sensory Integration is a neurological process of sensations that are organized in the brain and interpreted through sensory experience. These experiences are touch, movement, sight, sound, and body awareness.

The Praxis Test helps to understand how we use our hands and body through a skilled task like playing with toys, building a structure with blocks, or just straightening up a room. These skilled tasks will help children know what to do and how to do it. Practic skill is one of the most essential aptitudes that enable us "to do" in our lives.

Jennifer and Angie were also instrumental in beginning a Sensory Integration Support Group that is "......designed as a resource and support for parents and caregivers of children who demonstrate sensory integration difficulties." The group meets on the last Tuesday of each month from 6:30 to 8:30 PM in the CNS Clinic conference room.
